(Week 1): NFL DFS Advice
Matt Ryan – Matt Ryan’s ADP increased this season for the first time in his NFL career. All the guy has done is throw for more than 4,200 yards in each of the last 5 seasons. He’s got elite weapons both on the outside in Julio Jones, at RB in Devonta Freeman, and look for a breakout year for young TE Austin Hooper. He’s got a juicy week 1 matchup against a VERY beatable Bears secondary. Fire him up in season-long and DFS lineups.
Drew Brees – Brees and the Saints travel to Minnesota to kick off their 2017 season in prime time on Monday Night Football. Brees is about as consistent as it gets and, even against a strong Vikings pass defense, should still feast.
Ben Roethlisberger – Big Ben has weapons at his disposal all over the field. He also has a juicy matchup against the Cleveland Browns, widely considered one of the worst teams in the last decade. Cleveland has addressed defensive concerns in the draft with number-1 overall pick Myles Garrett and Jabrill Peppers with their 2nd pick in the 1st round. Per typical Browns luck, Garret is out for the first 2 weeks with a high ankle sprain. Ben will have a monster week 1.
Aaron Rodgers – Rodgers barely makes out list for week 1 as he’s got the most difficult matchup of our elite options as the Packers take on the Seahawks in Lambeau. The 12th man is eliminated, but the Seahawks still possess an elite defense, and the Legion of Boom is back with safety Earl Thomas healthy. Tread cautiously here, but Rodgers could be a great low-owned GPP option.
Marcus Mariota – Mariota is back for his first regular season action since breaking his fibula at the end of 2016. He’s got more weapons at his disposal that at any other time in his career with the addition of Eric Decker in free agency and rookie weapons Corey Davis, Taywon Taylor and TE Jonnu Smith.
Carson Wentz – Wentz has a tough matchup against the Redskins this weekend and reports out of Redskins camp indicate that Josh Norman will shadow Alshon Jeffrey. However, Wentz has several options to take advantage of including TE Zach Ertz and RB Darren Sproles. Look for a lot of check-down passes that could turn into big gains for Wentz and the Eagles.
Sam Bradford – It’s difficult to advocate for Sam Bradford, but the Vikings will likely be in a shootout Monday night against the Saints in Minnesota. Bradford is healthy, has a stud rookie RB in Dalvin Cook, and a solid stable of targets including Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, and TE Kyle Rudolph. Bradford is cheap and will be criminally under-owned in DFS. Lock him in as a solid, cheap GPP option.
Carson Palmer – The Cardinals are on the road this week in Detroit. According to some Lions writers, Lions CB Darious Slay will shadow, not Larry Fitzgerald, but “Smokey” John Brown. Lock Palmer and Fitz in for massive days in week 1.
Trevor Siemian – Siemian isn’t going to set the world on fire, but he’s starting and costs less than his backup on Fanduel…
