Daily Matchups for 4/8/2017

Top Pitchers

Masahiro Tanaka- This will be an odd pick because of Tanaka’s struggles in his first start. He’s still a stud and should be able to bounce back in his 2nd start. If Severino was set up for the win before the Yankees’ bullpen blew it, Tanaka should be just fine himself. Let’s look at his stats.

Career vs Current Orioles Roster

AVG: 0.198 [18 for 91], BABIP: 0.182, K%: 20.8, BB%: 4.2
FIP: 5.27 Groundout: 25Strikeout: 20 Lineout: 10Single: 10 Pop Out: 7 Flyout:7 Home Run: 6 Walk: 4Forceout: 2 Grounded Into DP: 2 Double: 2 Sac Fly: 1

Chris Archer- Archer had one hell of an Opening Day last Sunday against the potent Yankees offense and he gets to start once again in Tampa Bay. The dome is a great pitchers park and Archer had the best home ERA last year but was still 2-10 because the Ray’s offense was terrible. They seem to be better this season so far and think he’ll be fine once again. People will be scared to take him against the Blue Jays, but he should be good to go. Let’s check his stats against them.

Career vs Current Blue Jays Roster

AVG: 0.201 [45 for 224], BABIP: 0.232, K%: 25.1, BB%: 8.8
FIP: 4.16 Strikeout: 63Groundout: 50 Single: 28Flyout: 27 Walk: 22 Lineout:16 Pop Out: 15 Home Run: 9Double: 8 Grounded Into DP:5 Hit By Pitch: 2 Sac Fly: 2Forceout: 2 Field Error: 1 Sac Bunt: 1

Kyle Hendricks- I believe a lot of players will see that Kershaw is on the mound and try to roster him but that game is being played in Coors, and regardless of yesterday’s small runs output there, I can’t trust Kershaw. My bold prediction of the season will be that Hendricks is the best pitcher on the Cubs staff. Better than both Arrieta and Lester. Mark my words here today folks!

Career vs Current Brewers Roster

AVG: 0.143 [10 for 70], BABIP: 0.244, K%: 39.7, BB%: 2.7
FIP: 0.60 Strikeout: 29 Groundout: 15 Single: 6Lineout: 5 Flyout: 4 Double: 4 Forceout: 3 Walk:2 Pop Out: 2 Grounded Into DP: 1 Hit By Pitch: 1Bunt Groundout: 1

Yu Darvish– This is true that if you look at his first start of the season he certainly wasn’t at his best. Against the Indians he pitches 6.1 innings, gave up four runs (1 HR) and five walks with 4 strike outs. He ended up with a no-decision but it certainly wasn’t the outcome everyone was expecting. He only ended up with 19 FP and that might be concerning to the naked eye if you’re a casual DFS player and don’t actually dig into his numbers against the A’s. Let’s take a look shall we?

Career vs Current Athletics Roster

AVG: 0.224 [22 for 98], BABIP: 0.294, K%: 25.0, BB%: 12.9
FIP: 3.72 Strikeout: 29 Flyout: 21 Single: 18 Walk:15 Groundout: 12 Lineout: 8 Pop Out: 3 Double:2 Home Run: 2 Hit By Pitch: 2 Double Play: 1 Sac Fly: 1 Forceout: 1 Grounded Into DP: 1

Madison Bumgarner- MadBum is a beast not only with the ball but with the bat. He hit 2 BOOMstick shots last start and still got the loss. Even with the loss MadBum still pitched a strong 7 innings giving up only 6 hits, walking none, 11 Ks, 3 ERs, 1 Qstart and 49 FP. HE should be in store for an even better line tonight against the Padres. I’m taking him in cash over Kershaw tonight.

Career vs Current Padres Roster

AVG: 0.189 [20 for 106], BABIP: 0.217, K%: 20.7, BB%: 6.0
FIP: 3.16 Groundout: 27 Strikeout: 24 Flyout: 16Single: 10 Lineout: 9 Double: 8 Walk: 7 Pop Out:6 Sac Bunt: 2 Field Error: 2 Home Run: 2 Bunt Groundout: 1 Forceout: 1 Sac Fly: 1

Value/Sleeper Pitchers:

Aaron Sanchez– This might be more of a riskier play due to Sanchez having a finger injury that sidelined him a bit but not enough to make him miss his first start of the season against the Rays. If you dig into his numbers for Spring Training they are just awful. He has an 8.44 ERA and that could scare people away. That’s why I think if you’re going to use Sanchez, use him as a GPP option today.

Career vs Current Rays Roster

AVG: 0.164 [10 for 61], BABIP: 0.214, K%: 27.3, BB%: 6.1
FIP: 2.55 Strikeout: 17 Groundout: 16 Flyout: 9Single: 5 Walk: 4 Double: 4 Lineout: 3 Forceout:2 Pop Out: 2 Hit By Pitch: 1 Strikeout – DP:Grounded Into DP: 1 Home Run: 1

R.A. Dickey– This pick is exactly like our Steven Wright pick from yesterday. A knuckleballer is good when his stuff is moving, but can also issue walks and give up some runs. Dickey had his stint with the Mets that allowed him to see these Pirates and held them to a .263 BA. This is a very BOOM or BUST play tonight, not a cash game play at all.

Career vs Current Pirates Roster

AVG: 0.263 [21 for 80], BABIP: 0.328, K%: 21.8, BB%: 4.6
FIP: 2.52 Strikeout: 19 Groundout: 16 Single: 13Flyout: 12 Double: 6 Grounded Into DP: 5 Walk: 4Pop Out: 3 Hit By Pitch: 2 Lineout: 2 Forceout:Triple: 1 Home Run: 1 Field Error: 1 Sac Fly: 1

Adam Conley- This is another GPP play based on sub-par Spring with his 6.94 ERA and 1.89 WHIP. He gets a good match-up against a Mets team that he has held in check in his career. There’s no way you’re going to be looking at a cash game option here but he could possibly slip into a SP2 spot on DK.

Career vs Current Mets Roster

AVG: 0.203 [14 for 69], BABIP: 0.255, K%: 20.5, BB%: 4.1
FIP: 2.04 Strikeout: 15 Pop Out: 13 Groundout: 12Flyout: 10 Single: 9 Lineout: 5 Double: 5 Walk: 3Sac Fly: 1

Other Pitchers: Robert Gsellman, Zack Greinke, Jon Gray

Pitchers To Avoid:

Jhoulys Chacin

Felix Hernandez

Ricky Nolasco

Trevor Bauer

Value Batters:

 Zack Cozart

Kendrys Morales

Buster Posey

Brett Gardner

Brandon Crawford

Alcides Escobar

Top BvP Play:

Mike Trout vs. Felix Hernandez- 29 for 76, .382 BA, 16 singles, 4 doubles, 2 triples, and 7 HRs but 24 Ks!

Teams To Stack:

 Twins vs Miguel Gonzalez

White Sox (RH bats) vs. Adalberto Mejia (ML Debut)

Cardinals vs. Bronson Arroyo (Making first start in 3 years and he’s 40 years old)

REMEMBER: These are lineups we use, but feel free to pick and choose plays and make your own lineups. Don’t ALWAYS follow these as they don’t hit 100% of the time. We do use these but sometimes late scratches happen and it’s too late to update the lineup. Good luck and bring home the bacon.
